Mondays – Science Makes You Awesome! – this feature will detail one aspect of science or research that impacts every person’s daily life, whether or not he or she realizes it. From mathematics and statistics to physics to chemistry to biology, there is so much taken for granted in our 21st century world that relies on advancements in theory that have taken place relatively recently in the course of human history. This feature will highlight those advancements not so much in technology but in a way of thinking and will seek to show how application of the Scientific Method to daily life has improved the quality of life for billions.

Tuesdays – Time Machine of Science! – this feature will seek to paint a picture of the status of a field of science during the time a major discovery was made to better illustrate how important certain advancements that we might see as quite simple today were actually groundbreaking in their time. It will highlight how science is a process and how it is these advancements that often change not only the way we do things but the way we think about things.

Wednesdays – Science in the News! – this feature will discuss recent advancements in any area of science that have caught the popular eye. It will put these advancements in the context of past work leading up to them as well as what future work might be done to answer further questions. Its main goal will be to illustrate how every question that is answered as our knowledge advances will inevitably serve to pose several more questions we must now seek to answer in order to continue furthering our understanding of how the world works.

Thursdays – Science from the Future! – this feature will detail a field of research that is on the verge of important advancements that will be the driving force for improving quality of life in the 21st century. It will examine goals that have been set in the past and have been met already and new, further goals for the future in these fields that will ultimately lead to changes – whether gradual or immediate – that will affect both our daily lives and the way by which we push the boundaries of our collective knowledge.

Fridays – Fossil Fridays! – written and illustrated by Becky King Fidler, this feature will detail a point in geological time as illustrated by a painting of a representative species from that time period as well as a brief description of geological events surrounding that species’ life on Earth at that time. The goal of this feature will be to further understanding of the difficult concepts of evolution and geologic time through artwork and single examples.

Saturdays – Unrelated Content Saturdays! – this feature will be a catch-all of whatever’s left; a bin to put any ideas that haven’t been completely formed into formal entries or just couldn’t cut the mustard. They often won’t relate directly to science at all but will detail the author’s other interests with the goal of keeping a sense of informality to the site.

Sundays – Sunday Specials! – this feature will be written exclusively by weekly guest authors. Each author will describe what it is he or she does and why he or she has a passion for it. Often not relating directly to “hard” research science, these guest essays will be posted with the goal of illustrating how Scientific Method can be applied to any task – whether it’s related to research or not – with the theory that with formalized process of thought and approach to problems, any task can become a source of inspiration in one’s life.
